Bonnier News and Expressen acquire Swedish pre-season ice-hockey package
Swedish media house Bonnier News with national newspaper brand Expressen has acquired the rights to a pre-season package with at least fifty games from the clubs in the Swedish ice-hockey league HockeyAllsvenskan. Spring Media advised on the deal and represented the fourteen clubs involved.
The pre-season package includes the home games to all fourteen teams playing in HockeyAllsvenskan including classical clubs such as Modo, Björklöven, Djurgården, AIK, and Södertälje. The games will be played in August and September before the start of the regular season and will be shown exclusively in Bonnier News’ channels.
– We are really looking forward to this pre-season package. It builds on the record interest from last season and it is perfect preparation for the league start with top quality games for our fans, says Anders Blomberg, CEO at Björklöven.
Bonnier News is one of the leading media companies in Scandinavia with a rights portfolio including both international rights such as Ligue 1 as well as local rights such as floorball league SSL and football leagues Ettan and Elitettan. Spring Media advised on the deal and works closely with Bonnier News and HockeyAllsvenskan.
– This is a great development for Swedish ice-hockey and a unique package with over fifty games that hockey fans can enjoy on one platform during the pre-season. We are looking forward to working with Bonnier News and their great sports coverage to continue to build the interest for the clubs and league further, says Jacob Leander-Olsson, Head of Business Development at Spring Media Group.
