Spring Media advisor and production partner when Stockholm Open returns to SVT
Swedish public broadcaster SVT have secured the rights for the upcoming ATP250 tournament Stockholm Open this fall. The tournament will be broadcasted on linear channels SVT1 and SVT2 as well as SVT Play throughout the week. Spring Media advised on the deal and will also produce the tournament through Spring Productions.
Stockholm Open is the most classical tennis tournament in Sweden. Founded in 1969 and today the world’s oldest indoor tournament with great players like Björn Borg, John McEnroe, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Boris Becker all having played there. Last year’s tournament attracted close to 30 000 visitors with Tommy Paul winning his first title, Andy Murray playing great tennis after his injuries and Leo Borg making his ATP debut.
– I am very happy and proud of our partnership with SVT. Stockholm Open is the flagship of Swedish tennis and it is very important to inspire tennis fans throughout Sweden. SVT now gives us the opportunity to bring world class tennis to everyone, says Thomas Enqvist, Tournament Director for Stockholm Open.
The partnership ensures that Stockholm Open will be available to the Swedish public through SVT’s linear channels and digital platforms throughout the week. All matches will be commentated by SVT’s talents and from Friday’s quarterfinals include extended coverage with studio. Internationally the tournament is included in ATP’s central media packages that is broadcasted in over hundred countries globally.
– This new partnership means a lot for Swedish tennis and Stockholm Open. With the help of SVT, their linear channels and digital platforms we have the opportunity to maximize awareness of the tournament and build tennis interest in Sweden. It is with great pride and respect that we have had the opportunity to work with both the rights and production, says Manfred Aronsson, Spring Media.
The tournament is played between 15 and 23 of October in The Royal Tennis Hall in Stockholm. The first players will be announced next month followed by the start of public sale of tickets.
